Overview: People with an intellectual disability are often misdiagnosed with a mental illness. The DM-ID 2 provides diagnostic criteria adapted for people with an intellectual disability. Use of the DM-ID 2 can prevent the misdiagnosis of various disorders and the overuse of psychotropic medications, and provide information that can be shared with other professionals to promote accurate and appropriate treatment and interventions.
- Participants will develop an understanding of what Dual Diagnosis refers to in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Participants will develop a general understanding of how symptoms may present differently in people diagnosed with developmental disabilities.
- Participants will become familiar with the DM-ID 2, specifically the structure of the manual and how it may be used as a tool for accurate diagnosis.
Continuing Education Credits:
2.0 CEU’s are available for LCSW, LCPC, LSW, LPC and QIDP
Following the event, attendees will receive an email with a link to the online evaluation to complete. Once the evaluation response window closes, CEU certificates will be emailed. This process takes approximately 14 days following the event.
