Policy & Legislative Committee

Over the past year the Illinois Community Health Worker Board has worked to develop draft recommendations related to: the training and certification process, core competencies, workforce development and financing and reimbursement. We are holding a series of listening sessions across the state in order to receive feedback on the draft recommendations.

IPHA is working with Senator Steans and Senator Mulroe to introduce legislation that would appropriate General Revenue funds to the Illinois Department of Public Health for the Local Health Protection Grant.

IPHA, along with the Illinois Association of Public Health Administrators, the Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium, and the Southern Illinois Public Health Consortium are supporting SB2178, which appropriates $17.1 million in General Revenue Funds to the Illinois Department of Public Health for the Local Health Protection Grant.

Walt Howe, Administrator of McLean County Health Department and Co-Chair of IPHA’s Policy and Legislative Committee, testified to the Senate Human Services Committee today regarding the impact of the state’s budget impasse on local health departments.

IPHA has prepared two spreadsheets to display the full IDPH budget and the Grants-In-Aid budget for the Division of Family and Community Services in IDHS.

In 2015, IPHA general membership adopted three policy resolutions available for download here. Policy resolutions sunset every ten years.
