The leadership of IPHA congratulates the Illinois Department of Public Health on receiving national accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). IDPH is among the first eight state health departments to receive this honor.
To receive accreditation, a health department must undergo a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed assessment process to ensure it meets or exceeds a specific set of quality standards and measures. The national program, jointly supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), aims to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of the nation’s state, tribal, local, and territorial public health departments.
