EverThrive Illinois developed a Community Immunization Education Toolkit that is designed to prepare anyone to be an immunization trainer.  This toolkit is a simple collection of immunization resources and materials for the purpose of educating and advocating the public on full and timely vaccination.  It provides useful information and tools that your health department can use to train employees, community workers and educate the public about immunizations.

IPHA collaborated with EverThrive Illinois to bring this valuable training resource to local health departments throughout our state through a free webinar training on the Community Immunization Education Curriculum.

Experience in health outreach or immunizations is not necessary. The Toolkit contains background information that the trainees can use to train fellow community workers and/or educate the public about immunizations. Trainees can expect to gain knowledge about immunizations, communicable diseases and ways to communicate the importance of vaccination.

This training was provided by Lindsay Pluff, Immunization and Health Reform Consultant for EverThrive Illinois. Lindsay holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. In her role at EverThrive, Lindsay is responsible for outreach and presentation of the Community Education Toolkit in suburban Chicago areas. Prior to working with EverThrive, Lindsay worked for five years in clinical research of Alzheimer’s disease.
