Part 1 - Healthy Relationships: Understanding and Responding to Adolescent Relationship Abuse
Thursday, February 8 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. This session will explore adolescent relationship abuse (ARA) prevention, intervention, and support strategies helpful to youth service providers. This includes: reviewing prevalence data, the dynamics of an abusive relationship, barriers to discussion of this topic among students and professionals, and helpful language when talking with young people about relationships.
Part 2 - Healthy Relationships: Clinical Strategies to Address Adolescent Relationship Abuse in School-Based Health Centers
Wednesday February 21 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Part 2 is geared towards school-based health center providers and will provide in-depth guidance around how to assist young people when they disclose Adolescent Relationship Abuse to adult allies. This includes: assessing danger and utilizing safety planning tools, tips on referrals, a review of mandated reporting, and safe coding and billing for services.
