On Monday, June 18, IPHA sent Attorney General Jeff Sessions a letter which outlined the Association's stance on the current immigration crisis.
It reads, in part:
"As we strongly condemn the human rights violations of other nations, we must not forget our own darkest chapters in this country where the wellbeing of individuals were trampled and ignored in the pursuit of personal and corporate gain, or from displaced public fear mongering. Internment camps must not once again become a part of our modern landscape. We are facing the current and long shadows of committing crimes against humanity in our forcible transfer of migrant child populations and their imprisonment in detainment centers based upon nationality (non-US). We must not stand idly by or remain silent as this manmade public health crisis unfolds day by day."
