Subject:  Rapid Increase of Omicron Variant Infections in the United States: Management of Healthcare Personnel with SARS-CoV-2 Infection or Exposure

On December 24, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued the attached guidance concerning the management of healthcare personnel with SARS-CoV-2 infection or exposure that are working in healthcare facilities, systems, and nursing homes. The guidance provides recommendations to ensure adequate staffing using conventional, contingency, and crisis strategies that are meant to be considered and implemented sequentially. IDPH will issue formal guidance aligning with the CDC’s recommendations shortly.
