On May 22, 2022, Illinois lost a key public health partner when the current President of our Illinois Public Health Nurse Administrators (IPHNA) group, Cindy Graves of the DeKalb County Health Department, died after a brief illness. After serving in the hospital setting for 30 years, she turned to public health and immediately began to impact programming, practices, policy and the lives of many through her role as the Director of Community Health and Prevention, Health Promotion and Emergency Preparedness. Cindy was a remarkable nurse and dedicated leader in IPHNA. She was a supportive partner, a true public health professional who was committed to our mission and a kind, caring, and compassionate individual. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her IPHNA colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Cindy Graves Nursing Scholarship Fund in care of the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL., 60178.
