DeKalb County Health Department
The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Communicable Disease and Immunization Program Coordinator. This exempt position reports directly to the Director of Community Health and Prevention. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated leadership experience; excellent communication and analytical skills; experience in surveillance, investigation, and control of communicable diseases; and experience conducting outbreak investigations.
Responsibilities
• Oversees surveillance, investigation, treatment and control of communicable diseases and outbreaks with attention to epidemiology factors.
• Assists with developing investigation and surveillance systems, including the development of protocols, data collection tools, and reporting procedures.
• Coordinates and oversees the TB program including TB testing, screening, monitoring and treatment of active and latent tuberculosis cases. Coordinates investigation and potential treatment with State and Center for Disease Control officials.
• Oversees Adult and Travel Immunizations, including agency seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
• Coordinates Childhood Immunizations and Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program assuring Vaccine for Children (VFC) quality measures are achieved.
• Participates as a member of the internal and Countywide Emergency Preparedness teams.
• Collaborates and works with community health partners to build and maintain relationships that enhance delivery of public health services.
Requirements
• Registered Nurse, bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in nursing.
OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in public health or similar field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a public health setting.
Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
Ability to problem solve, provide leadership, and be part of the team.
Ability to be flexible and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
