IPHA Student Section Virtual Research Symposium 2026
Call for Abstracts
The Illinois Public Health Association (IPHA) and its Student Section invite students from colleges and universities across Illinois to submit abstracts for the IPHA Student Section Virtual Student Research Symposium, taking place on November 10, 2026. The symposium provides students with an opportunity to present their research, share innovative ideas, and connect with public health professionals, faculty, and fellow students from across the state.
Whether your work is a completed research project, quality improvement initiative, program evaluation, or policy analysis, we encourage you to submit an abstract.
Who Can Submit?
Abstract submissions are welcome from:
- Undergraduate students
- Graduate students
- Public health students
- Students from related health professions
Students may submit individual or group projects.
Topic Areas:
Abstracts should relate to one or more of the following public health topics:
- Social and Structural Determinants of Health and Cross-Sector Partnerships
- Policy and Research
- Building the Public Health Workforce
- Chronic Disease, Infectious Disease, and Special Populations
- Building Trust in Public Health and Science
- Emerging Public Health Issues
Abstracts should:
- Be written in clear language.
- Describe the purpose of the project.
- Briefly explain the methods used.
- Summarize the main findings or expected outcomes.
- Explain why the project is important to public health.
Presentation Format:
Accepted presenters will deliver a virtual oral presentation during the symposium.
Presentations should be about 15 minutes in length.
Additional presentation instructions will be shared with accepted presenters.
Awards:
Outstanding student presentations will be recognized during the symposium.
Award categories will be announced before the event.
Important Dates:
Abstract Submission Opens: September 1
Abstract Submission Deadline: September 30
Notification of Acceptance: October 19
Virtual Student Research Symposium: November 10, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM CT
