Established in 1940, the Illinois Public Health Association is the oldest and largest public health association in the State of Illinois. As one of the largest affiliates of the American Public Health Association, IPHA is widely recognized as a leader in the field of public health advocacy, health education and public health programming.

Strategic Goals 2025 - 2029

Strategic Goal 1: Drive policies and legislation focused on improving the public health infrastructure. 1.1 Build capacity of PH system to advocate effectively. 1.2 Increase sustainable funding for PH system. 1.3 Advocate for legislation and policy for the improvement of public health.

Strategic Goal 2: Build capacity and support comprehensive pathways to create a diverse workforce that is engaged, well-trained, and connected to the communities they serve. 2.1 Engage partners to strengthen and enhance pathways to public health careers. 2.2 Maximize capacity of existing public health workforce. 2.3 Offer training to support professional licensing and certification requirements as a member engagement strategy. 2.4 Assure workforce readiness to equip CHWs and their subspecialties to work at the top of their practice and profession. 2.5 Address public health professional workforce shortages.
