Speaker
Michele Sutton, MA, CHES, BCC, NBC-HWC; Mikayla Pittman, MA - American Lung Association
Description
This presentation highlights the important role that Community Health Workers can play in increasing awareness of and access to annual lung cancer screening. Participants will receive a brief overview of lung cancer screening, including eligibility criteria, the screening process, and the benefits of early detection through low-dose CT (LDCT) screening. Participants will also learn about the American Lung Association's Illinois Lung Cancer Screening Initiative, made possible by a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the role of Lung Health Navigators, and opportunities to connect screening-eligible individuals to lung cancer screening, tobacco cessation, and other support services. Participants will leave with practical tools to facilitate referrals and strengthen community-clinical linkages to care.
