Sustaining Access to Immunizations Across the Lifespan
Description
Access to immunizations is in a precarious state across the nation. With rampant misinformation and disinformation regarding the efficacy of vaccines, significant immunization policy changes at the federal level, and threats at statehouse levels regarding vaccine requirements and exemptions, long-term access to immunizations may rest with health plans and employers to ensure a healthy workforce for the country. The Illinois Public Health Association and the Immunize Illinois Coalition believe that the time is now to engage health plans and employers in critical policy discussions to ensure long-term access to vaccination for our statewide workforce. On August 18, in tandem with National Immunization Awareness Month, IPHA and the Immunize Illinois Coalition are hosting an Illinois vaccine policy summit, “Sustaining Access to Immunizations Across the Lifespan: A Policy Summit for Employers, Health Plans, and Advocates.”
Objectives:
- Assess the Immunization Landscape in Illinois and Vaccine Recommendations/Coverage
- Discuss How Employers Uphold and Ensure Vaccine Access as a Priority for a Healthy Workforce
- Discuss How Health Plans Ensure Vaccines Remain a Covered Benefit
- Discuss How Policy Work Can Advance Vaccine Access in Illinois
