The Impact of Poor Mental Health on Gun Violence in the U.S.

October 01, 2025 | 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Guest Speaker

Geoffrey Dillon, BSc, MPH Candidate - NYU School of Public Health

Webinar Description

MPH Candidate Geoffrey Dillon will present his Applied Practice Experience, which focuses on the systematic factors and how poor mental health is interconnected to gun violence. The presentation will address current policies in the U.S. and provide a comparison to policies in Switzerland, which has a high rate of gun ownership similar to the U.S., but reduced rates of gun violence. The project aims to address policies that may reduce the high rate of gun violence in the U.S. by using Switzerland as a reference with a similar enabling environment.  Geoffrey is attending NYU School of Public Health and is a summer policy intern with the Illinois Public Health Association.

Registration Deadline: September 30, 2025
