Passing of Jimmy Carter, former US president and humanitarian
The Illinois Public Health Association joins the world in mourning the death of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. A champion for affordable and decent housing, he and his wife, Rosalynn Carter, tirelessly donated their time and leadership to build and improve homes with Habitat for Humanity around the world. In his decades as a former president, Jimmy Carter helped delivery basic health and sanitation to millions of people worldwide and set a new standard for how aid agencies should engage with countries. President Carter's lifelong commitment to service, philantropy, and advancing health throughout the US and worldwide is a standard all of us in public health strive for. Our condolences to President Carter's family and everyone who knew him.
