The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR) seeks an experienced health care leader to serve as Associate Director, Health Career Tech Hub in its National Center for Rural Health Professions (NCRHP). This is a 50% part-time academic professional position that reports to the Assistant Dean for Rural Health Professions. The successful candidate provides strategic leadership, program administration, and operational oversight for the Health Career Tech Hub within the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford National Center for Rural Health Professions (NCRHP). The position leads the development, implementation, expansion, and evaluation of rural health career pathway initiatives that strengthen Illinois' healthcare workforce pipeline, specifically for healthcare support workers and certificate-level trainees. Working collaboratively with K–12 schools, community colleges, healthcare organizations, Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), workforce development agencies, community-based organizations, and state partners, the Associate Director advances sustainable career exploration, workforce readiness, and educational opportunities for future health professionals. The role oversees daily Hub operations, manages partnerships and program performance, and ensures alignment with NCRHP priorities, RHTP grant objectives, and statewide initiatives. The NCRHP programs include Rural Medical Education (RMED – a selective longitudinal medical school experience designed to promote rural practice), Illinois Area Health Education Centers Network (AHEC), Student Pipeline program, Global Health Partnership, and the Rural Health Professions (RHP – a supplemental education for medical, pharmacy, and advanced practice nursing). The NCRHP is one of three centers nationally that collaborates with the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization to advance medical education using social accountability principles, focusing on primary care services for underserved communities and rural populations. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in public health, education, healthcare administration, social services, nursing, or a health-related field. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in program administration, workforce development, education, healthcare, or community engagement, including experience working with K–12 schools, community colleges, higher education institutions, or healthcare employers. Candidates must also have experience working with programs focused on rural communities or rural workforce development, as well as experience developing and managing collaborative partnerships with community stakeholders. Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and multiple priorities is required, along with excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems is also required. This position is intended to be eligible for benefits.
