Qualifications
• Required: (any of the options below)
o Bachelor’s in Nutrition and registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
o Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nutrition or Food & Nutrition
o Associate’s degree from an accredited Nutrition/Dietetics Technician program and
registered
o Registered Nurse
o Bachelor’s or Master’s in Health Sciences with at least 8 college-level courses in relevant
subjects (e.g., biology, anatomy, nutrition, psychology, communication, sociology)
• Preferred: Experience in nutrition education and maternal/child health
• Valid Illinois driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
What You’ll Do
• As a WIC Nutritionist, you will:
o Build strong, respectful communication with clients, staff, and the public
o Assess individual nutrition needs and deliver tailored nutrition services
o Design and lead educational programs on nutrition and food services using diverse
teaching methods
o Provide expert nutrition guidance to healthcare professionals and support staff
o Foster collaborative relationships with physicians, community organizations, and other
stakeholders
o Document your work clearly and contribute to quarterly reports for state and local health
departments
