Exploring Novel Tools to Address the Fentanyl Crisis
Topic Description
This presentation is designed to provide the most current information on the overdose crisis including the differential impact in various communities, the dangers to younger populations and others that might be opiate naive. The presentation will also present recently published research concerning dosing of naloxone to reverse overdoses and briefly review the variations in doses of naloxone currently available.
Learning objectives include:
(1) Explain the current overdose crisis and how it is different from previous crises we have worked through.
(2) Discuss other considerations when addressing opioid overdose (e.g., hypoxia) and opiate naive.
(3) Compare the various medications currently available to address opioid overdoses and the considerations of each.
