Governor JB Pritzker Issues Proclamation declaring April 3-9, 2023, National Public Health Week

This week Illinois joins other states across the United States to observe National Public Health Week. This observation is a cooperative effort of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the Illinois Public Health Association (IPHA), state and local health departments, academic institutions, allied organizations, community groups, and professional and trade associations.

This year’s theme of “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health” recognizes the contributions of public health in improving the health of the people of the United States and achieving health equity while ensuring the basic foundations for good health in our communities.

Governor Pritzker calls upon Illinois residents to observe this week by helping our families, friend, neighbors, co-workers, and leaders better understand the value of public health and to celebrate the unique and joyful ways different cultures focus on health in light of this year theme.
