Rise ‘N’ Learn Webinar –

The Emotionally Healthy Child

Friday, December 9, 2022 - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Professional development workshops are sponsored by a partnership between the Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township, Riveredge Hospital, and Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System.

Presenter: Maureen Healy

Bio: Maureen Healy is an award-winning author and leader in the field of children's emotional health. Maureen’s background includes a PhD program in clinical psychology, an MBA, and years of working with parents and children globally. She has been trained in western science and eastern wisdom to have a wider perspective on what today’s children need to thrive – and not just survive. “The Emotionally Healthy Child” by Maureen has a preface from the Dalai Lama, and “The Happiness Workbook for Kids” is sold worldwide. She also writes a popular blog for Psychology Today and has been seen in PBS, The New York Times, ABC, and other outlets. More information can be found at: growinghappykids.com.

Workshop Overview: Come to refresh your perspective on how to nurture children’s emotional health in today’s children, tweens, and teenagers. Maureen Healy will share a “big picture” to inspire you as well as practical tools to help you in the everyday practice of nurturing positive emotional health and resilience. Participants will gain new ideas and walk away inspired to do the “hard work” they are called to do in the most compassionate way possible. Evidence-based strategies will be shared, and coping skills may address topics such as children’s anxiety/worry, loss, perfectionism, toxic stress, and high sensitivity, as examples.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To refresh our perspective on emotional health for adults and children.
  2. To learn new ideas and strategies, which we can apply today to bolster emotional health.
  3. Be able to "see" emotional health from a larger perspective relative to resilience, and happier life experiences, which we all want.
