Why Your Support Matters

Students entering the public health workforce often begin their careers carrying significant student loan debt before they've even had the opportunity to serve. Too many talented future leaders face financial barriers just as they're preparing to protect the health of Illinois communities.

For years, IPHA has helped ease that burden through its scholarship program, funded by a member endowment and IPHA's general revenue. Last year, IPHA awarded $5,000 in scholarships to five Illinois public health students. With your help, we can continue building on that investment.

The student you support today may become the local health department leader, epidemiologist, emergency preparedness coordinator, environmental health professional, or another dedicated public health professional your community depends on tomorrow.

Scholarship Impact

  • $5,000 awarded to five Illinois public health students last year
  • More than 40% of public health workers carry student loan debt averaging $48,000
  • Entry-level professionals earning $55,000 or less carry an average student loan balance of $38,000

Buy a ticket. Choose your journey. Help an Illinois public health student reach theirs!
