Topic Description

This "Everyday Epidemiology" presentation focuses on explaining the fundamental concepts and methods of the field in a simple and accessible way. This presentation begins by defining epidemiology as the study of how diseases and health conditions spread within populations and what factors influence their distribution. This foundational understanding helps the audience grasp the significance of epidemiology in addressing public health issues. The goal was to provide a refresher course on key epidemiological terms to make the content more digestible and allow the audience to reflect on a time they heard these terms. Overall, the goal of an everyday epidemiology presentation is to highlight the relevance of epidemiological research in improving population health, preventing disease, and guiding public health policies in a way that affects everyone’s day-to-day lives.

Learning Objectives:

  1. By the end of this presentation, at least 90% of participants will be able to define epidemiology correctly.
  2. By the end of this presentation, at least 90% of participants will identify at least one way epidemiology is used in public health.
  3. By the end of this presentation, at least 90% of participants will be able to identify one branch of epidemiology correctly.
