Legislative Alert - support Local Health Protection grant increase in funding

The Illinois General Assembly will return to Springfield next Wednesday-Friday to pass a state budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1. Contact your State Representative and State Senator and tell them to please push for increased funding to local health departments, via an increase in the Local Health Protection Grant in the Department of Public Health Budget.

Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) and other Downstate Democrats are pushing for increasing the amount from $18 million to $36 million and we need your help!

Please tell your State Representative and State Senator that this increased funding is critical to re-opening the state, to protect businesses and keep communities safe during COVID-19.

If you don’t know how to reach your State Representative or State Senator, or want to find other ways to be helpful in our effort, please email me at thughes@ipha.com.

This is extremely high priority and we do not have much time, so please get started right away. The more calls, the better, so please engage other community leaders, if possible.

Thank you for everything you do and please stay safe.
