IPHA Welcomes Walter Howe as Manager of Preventive Health Services

IPHA is pleased to announce that Walter Howe has accepted the position of Manager of Preventive Health Services at IPHA, effective February 13, 2017.

Walt will be responsible for managing the Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) grant and vaccine purchasing consortium.

Due to recent changes in the Illinois Vaccine for Children Program, children insured through the CHIP program are no longer eligible to receive VFC vaccines.  The consortium will obtain vaccines at a discounted, bulk rate and supply them to participating Illinois CHIP providers statewide in an efficient and timely manner. The $3.5 million grant initiative will allow IPHA and its partners to increase statewide vaccination rates and to address health disparities.

Walt comes to IPHA after serving nearly eight years as the Director of the McLean County Health Department. He brings experience and a proven track record of success in the public health field, which will be invaluable in making the CHIP grant and vaccine consortium a success.

Miriam Link-Mullison, IPHA president said, “I have worked closely with Walt over the years and am confident that he will get this new initiative off to a good start.  His years of experience in public health will be a great asset for IPHA."

Please join all of us in welcoming Walt to IPHA in his new role.

Walt can be reached at (217) 522-5687 or whowe@ipha.com.
